My name is Alex Robbin and I have been building websites and custom web applications since 2005. Specializing in Ruby on Rails, I have built a wide variety of applications and websites for small businesses across the country.
I graduated from Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentrating in Entrepreneurship and Legal Studies. Instead of taking classes that taught me computer languages, frameworks, and infrastructure, I took classes to further my business knowledge, allowing me to understand everything that goes into an organization, from the full technology stack to the accounting practices.
I love building complex web applications that solve difficult problems. The harder the problem, the more fun I have! You can see some of the applications I've built (and problems I've solved) by looking at my Past Work.
I provide web services to the entire country (and beyond), but my focus has been in the New England area, specifically Massachusetts.
Oh, also, Robbin's Web is just the organization I do business under. There is no "we", or anyone else behind the company.
At a high level, I offer businesses around the North Shore and beyond the opportunity to widen their audience through the internet. This can include offering a digital storefront or simply allowing the business to convey information to current and potential customers.
I have been building web applications since 2005, and as the technologies available to developers have advanced, so have my capabilities and offerings. Beginning in July 2006, I started experimenting with the Ruby on Rails framework after spending most of my time before then building applications with PHP. After realizing the tremendous potential of Rails, I started developing applications exclusively with the framework, and I haven't looked back.
In addition to this tremendously powerful framework, I have been working with jQuery, along with the latest in the CSS3 and HTML5 working drafts. Additionally, to be able to offer end-to-end abilities to potential customers, I also maintain multiple Linux-based web servers that run the websites of many of my clients.
